Ethical Jewellery, Made in Melbourne

Every piece starts at the bench in Brunswick East, in recycled gold and silver, with stones we can speak to honestly. Here is what that means, and what it doesn't.

The metal

Every ring starts as recycled gold or silver rather than freshly mined metal. Gold does not degrade with recycling, a ring melted down and recast makes gold every bit as good as gold from a mine.

The stones

Sapphires can often be traced to a specific Australian mine, sometimes to a specific season. Salt and pepper diamonds are stones the trade once discarded for looking imperfect. Lab grown diamonds, grown in a controlled setting rather than mined from the ground, are also part of the collection.

The making

Nothing is made until it's ordered. Each piece is handcrafted at the bench in Melbourne, one at a time.

What we don't claim

We won't call any of this the most ethical option there is, that's not something we can prove. Recycled gold still needs refining. Sapphire sourcing depends on relationships, not guarantees. What we can tell you is where a piece came from and how it was made, as clearly as we know it.

Questions

Is recycled gold different from new gold?

No. Gold does not degrade with recycling. A ring melted down and recast makes gold every bit as good as gold from a mine. Recycled gold means less new mining, not lower quality.

What does "ethically sourced" mean for a sapphire?

It means sourcing that operates under Australian labour and environmental law, and where possible, a stone we can trace to a specific mine, sometimes a specific season. It doesn't mean every stone is perfect, it means the questions have real answers.

Do you offer lab grown diamonds?

Yes. Lab grown diamonds are grown in a controlled setting rather than mined from the ground, and they're part of the diamond ring collection.
